Skip FAQs
Please read the below and see if we can answer your questions. Please call us to discuss any further concerns you might have.
When can you deliver and collect a skip?
Occasionally, we can offer same-day delivery but generally it’s next day. The hire covers for up to three weeks and we ask you to call to arrange collection when you have finished with the skip. If a skip is sited on the highway we require 7 working days to organise a permit and, depending on the council, they can be left for between 7 and 14 days.
Where can my skip be delivered?
Skips will be placed on driveways; we ask you to let us know of any access restrictions when booking. If you do not have a driveway we can apply for a licence for the skip to be sited on the highway or a grass verge. Our small lorry can deliver onto addresses with access of 8ft 6 and our larger lorries of 9ft 6.
What can I put in the skip?
Skips are sold as mixed waste so household general waste can be mixed with garden waste. We cannot accept tyres, fridges/freezers, asbestos, gas bottles, paint or any other liquids.
What size skip do I need?
We offer a range of skip sizes suitable for different projects. For building work the maximum size we offer is the 8 yard skip due to weight restrictions. Please call the office to discuss your requirements and we will try and advise you as best we can. Please note all skips must be level loaded for a safe pick up. Remember: a larger skip is more cost effective than two smaller ones.
How do I pay for the skip?
We request payment is made prior to delivery by card over the phone or bank transfer, so the skip can be dropped off without anyone on site.
What happens to the waste in the skip?
Midland Skip Hire has its own transfer station, enabling us to process and sort your waste and recycle at least 80%.
Do you offer a wait-and-load service?
We can offer a wait-and-load service for up to 30 mins included in the price of the skip. If you require it longer than this, it is charged at £20 per every 15 minutes thereafter. If you require a wait-and-load on a public highway we will still require a permit.
Do I need to be at home to accept delivery?
We can deliver the skip with no one on site, if you have any specific siting instructions, please let us know at the time of booking and we will leave a note for the driver.
Will my drive be damaged by the skip?
Whilst every care is taken to protect driveways we cannot accept any liability. We can site skips on wooden boards to protect the drive with heavy skips but these are down to the hirer to provide.
How much is a skip to hire?
Costs depend on the area and size, please call the office and we will be happy to quote you.
